NC Update Day #5 - 7.7.17

Our last full day here in North Carolina! We woke up early and had breakfast, but no morning worship today. Instead, we gathered with the other group that is staying here with us and prayed for the clients who's houses we are working on, the staff here at ReCreation, and each of our respective teams. After our prayer, we headed to the work site and got after it! The team worked so hard to finish up the final two projects that we had; digging the septic trenches and painting the house. We finished up the trenches before lunch and began laying in the piping. Once that was set in place, we buried the pipes and leveled out the yard so that the homeowner can reseed the yard. We braked for lunch and were thankful that Cody, the homeowner, came out and shared his testimony with the team. It was great for us to get to hear about how Cody came to know Jesus and to get a chance to talk with him about his life! After lunch, we all hit the painting hard and ended up finishing painting the house before our time was up at the work site. Because we finished early, we had a little extra free time before dinner. The ReCreation staff put on worship tonight as a part of the end of the week celebration that they put on. This celebration included a slideshow that they had put together from the week and one final talk from Dave Torbit, which really challenged our kids as our minds are beginning to turn towards heading back home to Williamsburg. After the ReCreation worship, we went straight into our final Porch Time of the trip where Nick talked about Paul, the feature of our character study leading into this trip. We talked about things that hold us back from reaching what we called "The Beautiful Struggle" which is when God takes a struggle in your life and turns it into something beautiful. Porch Time ended with each student receiving a card that they had filled out at Missions Night or at one of the pre-trip meetings, on which they had written a fear they have that is holding them back from a relationship with Jesus. The team broke into small groups and continued to discuss further until it was time for lights out. Tomorrow we are having breakfast, cleaning up the housing site and then hitting the road.
