Nashville Team Has Arrived!

We made it! All five vans stayed together throughout the whole twelve hour drive from Williamsburg to Nashville.  We made a total of 4 stops, one for lunch and dinner and only two bathroom breaks... an achievement by itself! The kids enjoyed jamming out to all their favorite songs, getting to know each other thru random questions and games, finding out how beautiful the mountains of Va and Tn really are, and sharing a little about what they're most excited about for the week.

We arrived at 9pm central time and the Nashville CSM team was very welcoming as we arrived and helped us get settled.  Lots of energy in the room despite the 12 hrs in vans.  We are staying in Eastland Baptist Church in the East Side of Nashville, the CSM home site.  Center for Student Mission is here in Nashville year round keeping a pulse on the city, building relationships with the ministries of our serving sites, and improving opportunity for groups like us to have maximum impact.  They provide the connection between us and the local organizations and ministries who need man power to run throughout the summer.  This is our chance to be the hands and feet of Christ.  We hope and pray for a great day tomorrow!

We are all tired from the day's travel, but are going to sleep tonight full of excitement for what God has in store for our team tomorrow.  We will break into 5 serving groups tomorrow and have the opportunity to serve doing a wide spectrum of things:  Serve food to those staying at a shelter and share a meal with them, play with kids in a summer camp program, take a tour of Nashville and pray for the need that exists here, and also learn more about the history of the city.  It will be action packed with great opportunities to serve and connect with people who are in need.

Check back tomorrow for another update!
